After the immense popularity of such an exciting sport all around the State and the country, it was decided that an even better competition would be played that would basically be the “Best of the Best” of each centre playing against each other in a weekend carnival of games. This competition would be the Zone Championships and the primary reason for Zones would be to pick the Queensland team. Of course it is also a great opportunity to meet players and umpires from other centres and even further develop your skills as a player, playing against - and with - State and Australian players.
For this purpose, each year all across the state, Indoor Sports Centres are banded together to form a Zone. This can range from 2 to 5 centres in each zone. These usually change every year and this year Kedron Indoor Sports is in the North Brisbane Zone with Brisbane and Strathpine.
There are 2 Zone Championships a year – an Open Carnival which includes the grades of Ladies, Men's and Mixed as well as Under 21 Ladies while the Aged Carnival is held later in the year and involves Under 18 Ladies, Over 30 Ladies and Over 30 Mixed. At the end of each Championship, the Queensland team for the grades played that weekend are announced.
